L. Evelyn Pfeiffer, 91, died, November 14, 2007, at the Homestead Nursing Home, Washington. She was born on September 9, 1916 in Washington to Walter and Ethel (McCurry) Finlayson. Evelyn was united in marriage on April 11, 1936 to Walter Pfeiffer. They moved to California in 1938, living there for 50 years before returning to live in Washington in 1988. Her loving husband of 55 years, Walter E Pfeiffer, preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Ernest Finlayson, Delbert Finlayson, Clifford Finlayson, and Glen Finlayson. She is survived by her sons, Ed Pfeiffer and wife Phyllis of Raton, NM, Walt Pfeiffer and wife Linda of Yuba City, CA; a daughter, Diana Kay Clarke and husband Jim, of Sun Lakes, AZ; a sister, Velma Merritt of Linn; sisters-in-law, Alma Finlayson of Marysville, Carol Finlayson and Mary Finlayson, of Washington and Hilda McAtee of Fairbury, NE; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also, several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held at 10:30 Monday, November 19, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock will officiate. Dr. James Smart will sing “In the Garden” “Old Rugged Cross”, and “Here I Am, Lord.” Sheila Ouellette will be the organist. Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery. Casket bearers are Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home, Sunday, November 18, 2007 In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Ward Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
