Robert Norman Bennett, “Bob”, 75, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Cambridge Place in Marysville, KS. He was born February 3, 1930 at Garfield, KS to John Paul and Rosie Maude Kirkman Bennett. He lived most of his life in Great Bend, KS, working in oil fields and doing construction work. He last worked at John Mansville Corp. in McPherson, retiring in 1983 after suffering a stroke. Bob served in the Army from 1950 to 1953 and enjoyed fishing and playing bingo. He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Bennett; and a sister, Wilene. He married Jane Williams on March 11, 1975 in McPherson, KS. She survives. Bob is also survived by his mother Rosie, Mt. Hope, KS; sons, Robert Bennett and wife Jennifer, Hollenberg, KS, James Bennett, Seneca, KS, Leon Bennett and wife Dorene, Hanover, KS; adopted daughters, Brenda Burlson and Julie Taylor and husband Joe, of Jacksonville, FL; stepson, Lonnie Williams and friend Sue, Hanover, KS; Brother Gene Bennett and wife Audrey, Mt. Hope, KS; sister, Norma Lee Vettesse and husband Joe, Flippin, AR; and 13 grandchildren Graveside memorial service and inurnment will be at the Washington City Cemetery, Thursday, March 10, 2004 at 10:30. Pastor Wendell Sack will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Fort Riley Color Guard. A memorial fund has been established to be designated by the family at a later date.
