Wilbert H. Scheele

WASHINGTON-Wilbert H Scheele, 78, Linn, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Clay County Medical Center. He was born at Greenleaf to Herman and Emma (Meyerhoff) Scheele on December 6, 1926. Wilbert grew up and spent his life in the Linn area. His entire life centered on his family and farming. He farmed until his health forced him to quit in September 2004. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from February 1951 through November 1952.. On April 17, 1955 he was united in marriage to Esther Holsch at the Zion Lutheran Church. They were blessed with four children, Karen, Annette, Diane and Larry. Wilbert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served in various offices of the congregation and Zion Lutheran School. He was also a member of the Wholmoor American legion Post #237, serving on the board for many years. He is survived by his wife Esther; three daughters, Karen Meyerhoff and husband Nathan, Annette Oehmke and husband Dennis, all of Palmer, Diane Duitsman and husband Brad, Washington; a son Larry Scheele and wife Carla, Linn; a brother, Raymond and wife Donna, Linn; two sisters, Darlene Moorman and husband Marvin, Manhattan, Lola Herrs and husband Verlin, Linn; a brother in law, Ralph Holsch and wife Pat; and 12 grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Linn, Friday, April 15, 2005 at 10 am. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Linn. Active casket bearers were Marvin Moorman Jr., Bruce Herrs, mark Herrs, Kevin Holsch, Neil Herrs, Gene Herrs, Kent Scheele and Karl Holsch. Honorary casket bearers were Brandon Duitsman, Cody Duitsman, Jason Oehmke, Justin Oehmke, Matt Meyerhoff, Wes Scheele, Doug Ryan, Matt Schreiber and Ethan Scheele.
