obituaries ESTHER L. HERRS Esther Lydia (Duensing) Herrs was born May 25, 1920 at Mission, SD, the daughter of Martin and Lydia (Niemann) Duensing. Esther was baptized June 1, 1920 at the Zion Lutheran Church of Mission, SD. She attended public and parochial schools in Mission. In 1929 she came to Kansas with her family, residing in the Hanover and Breman, KS and Odell, NE areas. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Hanover, KS where she was confirmed. On April 21, 1946 she married Arthur H Herrs. They lived in the Linn and Palmer, KS areas their entire married life. They were blessed with four children. Esther was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer, where she was a member of the Mixed Choir for many years. She was employed with USA #223 at the Palmer Grade School for 17 years as a custodian. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, singing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Esther passed away June 18, 2005 at the Linn Community Nursing Home, Linn at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by sons Warren and wife Kim, Huron, KS, Brian and wife Patty, Salina; daughters Jeanette and husband Gil Specht, Downs, and Roschelle and husband John Bisping, Atchison; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. Rev. Gene Holtorf officiated. Burial was in St. John Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lonny Bisping, Adam Herrs, Aaron Herrs, Stan Hergenrader, John Bisping, Dr. Gilbert Specht and Spc. Jay Bisping. A memorial fund was established to the St. John Lutheran Church.
