Eldean E. Oldehoeft

Eldean E. Oldehoeft, 74, of Linn, KS, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, KS. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 3, at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. Rev. Gene Holtorf officiated. Sheila Stuenkel played the organ while the Men's Choir sang “In The Cross Of Christ I Glory” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”. The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Stuart Vitosh, Daryl Bott, Caleb Gerleve, Michael Stigge, Tim Oldehoeft, Luke Bott and Michael Oldehoeft. Burial was in the church cemetery. Eldean was born November 17, 1937 near Bremen, KS, son of Edmund and Hilda (Tegtmeier) Oldehoeft. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School at Bremen and graduated from Hanover High School in 1955. On June 3, 1967, he married Loraine Bott at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. He farmed near Palmer with his brother-in-law, Delwin before working at Ward Craft in Clay Center for twenty-five years. Eldean enjoyed workings as a carpenter, building odds and ends in his spare time and working puzzles. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer, past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen, and served in the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Loraine; son, Brian Oldehoeft, Linn; daughter, Juanita (Dale) Gerleve, Washington, KS; three brothers, Earl (Ruth) Oldehoeft, Hanover, KS, Harold (Karen) Oldehoeft, Battle Creek, NE, Leonard (Elaine) Oldehoeft, Exeter, NE; sister, Carolyn Vitosh, Odell, NE; three brothers-in-law, Delwin (Lois) Bott, Palmer, KS, Ronald (Kathy) Bott, Palmer, KS, and Raymond (Anita) Bott, Washington, KS; two sisters-in-law, Verlene (Reynold) Schaaf, Linn, KS, and LeAnn Bott, Clay Center, KS; and three grandchildren, Caleb, Ashley and Lance. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kevin; and two brothers-in-law, Lavern Stigge and Doug Spomer. A memorial fund has been established to St. John Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour. Contributions may be sent in care Ward Funeral Home.
