Othal Floyd Else 95, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Linn Community Nursing Home. A funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 22, at the United Methodist Church, Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated. Gina Miller accompanied Leland Cook as he sang "Let There Be Peace on Earth" and "He Touched Me." The recessional was "Happy Trails." Burial was in Fairbury City Cemetery at Fairbury, Nebraska. Pallbearers were John Porter, Laura Porter, Doug Hecox, Andrew Hecox, Jason Else and Larry Hughes. Othal Floyd Else, the 2nd son of Loyal D. and Rose (Lohmeyer) Else was born on a farm north of Hollenberg, Ks, February 12, 1917. Othal received his education at Hollenberg Schools and attended Kansas State College in Manhattan, Ks. On April 16, 1942, he was united in marriage to June Nutter at Washington, Ks. Othal and June spent the first year of their married life in Washington, Ks where Othal was employed by the AAA office. The following year they moved to the farm, north of Hollenberg, where Othal was born. They lived there 20 years then moved to the farm west of Hollenberg. Othal was active in the community, having served on the Franklin Twp. Board. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington, the Frontier Lodge #104 and served as District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge. A member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Isis Temple of Salina, the Washington Co. Shrine Club, the Washington Co. Cattlemen’s Assoc and the Washington Co. Saddle Club. He was also County Commissioner and was a member of the Elks Lodge of Fairbury, Ne. He judged many horse shows and he and his family participated in many horse shows and parades. He enjoyed his life as a Farmer/Stockman, his home, family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was a man who cared much about others and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He enjoyed rodeos, reading Louie L’Amour books, playing cards, dancing and big band music. Survivors are his wife, June, daughters, Connie (Dick) Hecox of Brighton, Co, Rita Imlay of Lincoln, Ne; son, Floyd Else of Hollenberg, Ks & friend Connie Jo Gabelman of Lincoln, Ne; Grandchildren, Doug Hecox of Washington D.C., Andrew (Kathleen) Hecox of Aurora, Co, John (Janelle) Porter of Lincoln, Ne and Laura Porter of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Jason (Christine) Else of Dubuque, Iowa; Great Grandchildren – Kelsea, Sam and Abby Porter, Justin and Bethany Else, Nieces Barbara (Gerald) Bauer, Lynne Merrill, Lori Holst & Erica Wyse. He was preceded in death by his parents Loyal & Rose Else; brothers Loyal Jr, William Else; and sister, Carol Hertel. A memorial fund has been established to be designated by the family.
