Lorina Roetter 87, died May 9, 2012, at the Linn Community Nursing Home A funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Pastor David Gruoner officiated. Eunice Beier was organist and played congregational hymns, "I Am But A Stranger Here", I Am Jesus Little Lamb", and Abide With Me." Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Palmer, KS. Pallbearers were Gary Helms, Duane Meier, Robert Mueller, Loren Mueller, Roger Hageman and Bruce Hageman. Lorina was born April 28, 1925 to Emil and Sophie (Tewes) Meier at rural Palmer. Lorina attended St. John Lutheran School for eight years. She was united in marriage to Milburn Roetter on August 1, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church, Palmer. Lorina was a member of Tabitha Society and served on various committees. After working on the family farm she worked at the Washington County Coop Creamery for many years. She then worked at the Linn Community Nursing Home for 23 years as a Nurse’s Aide and Med Aide until she retired. Lorina’s greatest joy was her grandsons. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework and caring for the elderly. She became a resident of the Linn Community Nursing Home in 2006 and also became a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Linn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Milburn in 2000; son, Dennis in 1973; brother Everett Meier ; brother-in-law LaVern Hageman; and sister-in-law, Eileen Meier. Lorina is survived by her son, Larry (Tammy) Roetter of Palmer; a brother Ewald (Sonja) Meier of Clyde, ; two sisters, Elvie Hageman of Leonardville, Betty (Edgar) Helms of Linn; sister-in-law, Lois Meier of Alliance, NE; and two grandsons, Denton and Jared. A memorial fund has been established to the Lutheran Hour or Bethesda. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward’s.
