Evelyn M. Lohmeyer Rea, 94, of Greenleaf, KS, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenleaf. Pastor Charlene Barnes officiated. Winifred Elmborg played the organ while the congregation sang "Amazing Grace", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." The pallbearers were Joe Hiltgen, Jason Hiltgen, Chris Swiat, Randy Hiltgen, Jim Lohmeyer and Bob Harlan. Burial was in the Linn City Cemetery. Evelyn was born July 18, 1917 at Kimeo, Kansas, the daughter of Peter F. and Kate (McCarthy) Hiltgen. On August 10, 1937 she married Orville Lohmeyer. He preceded her in death. She later married William Rea. He also preceded her in death. Evelyn owned and operated a hobby shop in Marysville until moving to Greenleaf where she managed a restaurant. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Bible Study at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenleaf. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wilfred Hiltgen and Marvin Hiltgen; and one granddaughter. Survivors include two daughters, Kay (Wayne) Friedrichs, Greenleaf, KS, and DeVon (Leo) Swiat, Vicksburg, MI; three brothers, Robert (Gloria) Hiltgen, Greenleaf, Cleo (Geneva) Hiltgen, Mankato, KS, and Kenneth (Karon) Hiltgen, Frankfort, KS; one sister, Ruby Cairns, Concordia, KS; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
