Audrey L. Shaw, 73, of Washington, Kansas, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor John Frey officiated. Gina Miller accompanied Leland Cook as he sang "Rock of Ages" and "Amazing Grace." Audrey was born on December 5, 1937 to Alvia and Lela (Shoup) Johnston at Haddam, Kansas. In 1955 she graduated from Haddam High School. She attended and graduated from Southeast Community College with a certificate in Food Service/Nutrition. Audrey held various jobs over the years. She worked as a CNA, waitress at the Corner Café, clerk at Zabokrtksy Hardware, clerk at Phillips 66, house supervisor for Twin Valley Developmental Services, and head cook at the Centennial Homestead Nursing Home. Audrey was an accomplished cook and baker. On June 14, 1955, Audrey was united in marriage to Willis Shaw in Washington. He survives. She is also survived by daughters, Mary (John) Leck, Washington, Denise (Richard) Uhlrich, Cottonwood Falls; sons, Bryan Shaw, Washington, Daniel Shaw and David Shaw, both of Morrowville; brother, Kenneth (Marilyn)Johnston, Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, Keith L. Johnston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and can be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
