Dorothy B. Ruegsegger, 84, died August 4, at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Fr. David Metz and Fr. John Wolesky officiated. Gina Miller was organist. Dr. Jim Smart sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “One Bread, One Body”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Prayer of St. Francis.” Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jonathan Reith, Justin Reith, D.J. Cones, Louis Guth, Tom Herl and David Herl. Honorary bearer was Matthew Ruegsegger. Dorothy was born in Wamego, KS on January 25, 1927, the eldest of three girls, to George and Rose (Ruhl) Richmond. The family moved to Chicago when she was young, and there she graduated high school. She moved with her family back to Topeka and she worked as a secretary for Alf Landon. Dorothy met Robert Ruegsegger at a family get together and they were married in 1947. From Topeka they moved to Manhattan and then Washington where they owned and operated Bobs Locker Plant. Several years after the death of Bob, Dorothy moved to Bartlesville, OK to be near her children. Dorothy enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was active in her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and her sisters, Evelyn Herl and Lorraine Guth. Surviving Dorothy are her children, Linda Ruegsegger, Vicky (Bruce) Reith both of Bartlesville, OK, Duane (Kae) Ruegsegger of Harrah, OK; and five grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
