Viola Elizabeth Augustus Lobaugh, 101, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Linn community Nursing Home in Linn. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn. Pastor Tom Sahl officiated. Vernon Mai assisted with the service. Anita Singular played the congregational hymns "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was in the Greenleaf City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dustin Lobaugh, Richard Bloom, James Fenton and Dale Warman. Viola was born September 11, 1909 to William and Anna (Walkermeyer) Warman at Fairbury, Nebraska. She attended White Hall School, Horsehoe School and graduated from Washington High School. Vi taught school in Barnes. On October 8, 1927, she was united in marriage to Guy Lobaugh. They lived on the family farm in Washington County until moving to Linn in July of 1969. She worked for the Linn State Bank for 25 Years and played the organ at many area churches. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenleaf before moving to Linn where she became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Garfield Helping Out Club and Washington County Chorus. She enjoyed music, dancing, bingo and working puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, in 1970; two brothers, George and Raymond "Toots" Warman; four sisters, Daisy Ann Ferry, Bertha Eckerdt, Maggie Johnson and Effie Litterll. Survivors include her son, Mark (Judy) Lobaugh, Miltonvale, Kan.; two grandchildren, Melissa (Rick) Bloom, Wichita, Dustin (Cassie) Lobaugh, St. George, Kan.; great-granddaughter, Baylee Bloom; great-grandson, Cooper Lobaugh; and brother, Dale (Mary Alice) Warman, Santa Rosa, California. A memorial fund has been established to the Linn Community Nursing Home or St. Paul Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
