Robert “Bob” J. Crimmins, 82, of Washington, Kansas, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Washington. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Washington. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 11 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Father David Metz officiated. Music was provided by Sheila Ouellette and Bob L’Ecuyer. Hymns were “On the Wings of a Dove”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “How Great Thou Art.” The pallbearers were Chris Bruna, Lance Bruna, Mark Goeckel, Jim Goeckel, Kenny Bruna and Randy Goeckel. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Hanover. Bob was born on the farm at Kimeo on November 3, 1928 to Daniel Leo and Cecilia Catherine (Schwartz) Crimmins. When Bob was five, the family moved to Hanover so he could attend St. John’s Catholic School. In 1946 he graduated from Hanover High School. He joined the Army and served in Japan during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned home to raise cattle and farm. On May 7, 1982 he was united in marriage to LaDeane (Nutsch) Donohue at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Bob was a 65 year member of the Knights of Columbus and 58 year member of the Hanover American Legion. After LaDeane retired they traveled to Germany, Ireland, took two Alaskan cruises, a Caribbean cruise and traveled to most of the fifty states. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Paul; two sisters, Rosemary Rettig and Lula Kieffer; and step daughter-in-law, Sharon Fletcher. Survivors include his wife, LaDeane; stepsons, Timothy Fletcher (Nancy) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Robert Fletcher of Clay Center; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
