Ruth "Jane" Shaver

Ruth "Jane" Shaver, 90, of Waterville, Kansas and formerly of Barnes, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Leonardville Nursing Home in Leonardville, Kansas. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22 at the Barnes United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sandra Jellison-Knock officiated. Judy Springer played the piano and sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "How Great Thou Art." Burial was in the Fancy Creek Randolph Cemetery, north of Randolph, Kansas. Jane was born December 20, 1920 at Riley, Kansas, the daughter of Nels and Josephine (Parrack) Nelson. In September of 1940 she married Ellis Franklin Shaver. They lived at Barnes while their children were growing up. After the children were older Jane and Ellis lived several places in the southeast United States while Ellis was working as a General Superintendent in construction. After Ellis retired they moved back Barnes. Shortly after her husbands death she moved to Waterville. Jane always enjoyed playing the guitar while the family sang along. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis, on April 14, 2004; three brothers, Raymond Nelson, Earl Nelson and Floyd Nelson; and two sisters, Eva Wohler and Marie Brighton. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Eads (Fred), Bullhead, Az.; son, Gary Shaver (Donna), Manhattan, Kan.; three grandsons, Robert Tripp, Stephen Tripp and Troy Shaver; five great-granddaughters, Channell Enriquez, Candace Tripp, Chaylene Tripp, Charmaine Tripp and Courtney Shaver; one great-great-grandson, Moses Enriquez. A memorial fund has been established to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
